On Thursday, POLITICO published an explosive article written by Donna Brazile that outlined the collusion between the Clinton camp and the DNC.
Brazile is a lifetime political operative who most recently served as the interim DNC chair. Born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, she was the campaign manager for Al Gore's 2000 presidential campaign. She took over the DNC after Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Florida) resigned from the post in disgrace on July 28, 2016.
In the article that was posted on Thursday, Brazile outlined how shocked she was at the DNC's financial situation upon taking the helm:
For Brazile, the fact that the DNC was bankrupt was less significant than how they brought themselves ever-so-slightly out of debt:
Brazile continued, digging deeper into the Clinton campaign's darker, more sinister reasonings for helping the DNC:
Brazile was shocked by the fact that this arrangement was agreed on and signed in August 2016, nearly a year before Clinton formally accepted the nomination. She offered her verdict on the situation:
Donna Brazile, who was previously accused of colluding with the Clinton campaign against Sanders while in an official DNC position, isn't the only prominent Democrat who believes that the DNC was in cahoots with the Clinton campaign.
On Thursday, Elizabeth Warren, the liberal U.S. senator from Massachusetts, told Jake Tapper that she believed that the primary election was "rigged."
Hillary Clinton lost the 2016 presidential election by 77 electoral votes, shocking Democratic consultants and elected officials. The DNC is currently $3.3 million in debt.

In the article that was posted on Thursday, Brazile outlined how shocked she was at the DNC's financial situation upon taking the helm:
Obama left the party $24 million in debt—$15 million in bank debt and more than $8 million owed to vendors after the 2012 campaign—and had been paying that off very slowly. Obama’s campaign was not scheduled to pay it off until 2016.
For Brazile, the fact that the DNC was bankrupt was less significant than how they brought themselves ever-so-slightly out of debt:
Hillary for America (the campaign) and the Hillary Victory Fund (its joint fundraising vehicle with the DNC) had taken care of 80 percent of the remaining debt in 2016, about $10 million, and had placed the party on an allowance.
Brazile continued, digging deeper into the Clinton campaign's darker, more sinister reasonings for helping the DNC:
The campaign had the DNC on life support, giving it money every month to meet its basic expenses, while the campaign was using the party as a fund-raising clearinghouse. Under FEC law, an individual can contribute a maximum of $2,700 directly to a presidential campaign. But the limits are much higher for contributions to state parties and a party’s national committee.
Brazile was shocked by the fact that this arrangement was agreed on and signed in August 2016, nearly a year before Clinton formally accepted the nomination. She offered her verdict on the situation:
The funding arrangement with [Hillary for America] and the victory fund agreement was not illegal, but it sure looked unethical. If the fight had been fair, one campaign would not have control of the party before the voters had decided which one they wanted to lead. This was not a criminal act, but as I saw it, it compromised the party’s integrity.
